When should I seek therapy for my mental health or substance use?

First responders face unique mental health challenges — from occupational trauma and chronic fatigue to cultural stigma and substance normalization. When you notice that your emotions, thoughts, or habits are beginning to affect your daily life, relationships, or sense of control. This might include feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or hopelessness. Using alcohol or drugs to cope with daily stress or emotions and not being able to manage responsibilities at home or work. Therapy can help you identify the underlying causes of these struggles, develop healthier coping skills, and regain balance in your life.
