Course Description

CBT for Anxiety: Evidence-Based Strategies for Treatment is a practical, clinician-focused continuing education course designed to equip mental health professionals with the skills and knowledge to effectively assess and treat anxiety disorders using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This training provides a thorough overview of how CBT targets the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral components of anxiety, with a focus on structured, evidence-based interventions. Participants will explore the application of CBT to various anxiety presentations including generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety, and specific phobias. Through clinical case examples, participants will learn how to construct exposure hierarchies, implement thought-challenging strategies, and facilitate behavioral experiments tailored to individual client needs. The course also addresses the use of psychoeducation and symptom monitoring tools.

In addition to core CBT strategies, the training will highlight common challenges in treatment, such as client avoidance, resistance, or perfectionism, and offer practical tools for navigating these barriers. Ethical considerations and cultural responsiveness in delivering CBT will be discussed, ensuring clinicians are equipped to adapt treatment across diverse populations. By the end of the course, participants will be able to apply CBT principles in real-world clinical settings, integrate outcome measures into practice, and develop comprehensive, client-centered plans that promote sustainable anxiety reduction. This course is appropriate for social workers, counselors, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, and other licensed providers seeking to strengthen their CBT skills and improve outcomes for clients experiencing anxiety.
